First Day of School-2012-2013

Monday was the first day of school.  Everyone but Curtis has been counting down the days until its arrival.

Curtis is now a 3rd grader.  A third grader!  How is that possible?  He has Ms. Vanbuskirk (used to be Ms Alesia).

Alessia started Kindergarten this year.  If I allowed it she would have walked herself to school.  By the second day of school she had already forgotten to turn around and kiss me goodbye.  She is just so excited to be in school.  Her teacher is Ms. Leverence.

After the kids were done getting ready we had time for pictures.  They were actually all excited to get their pictures taken with their new backpacks and sneakers.

We all walked to school in the hundred degree heat.  How it could be that hot out that early in the morning still baffles me and I have lived in Vegas 7 years now.

There was a huge line to get into Kindergarten.  It was crazy.  They wanted each student to get  a tag that said who was picking them up so the kids had less of a chance of going home with a stranger.  Alessia was so excited but did turn back for one last hug and kiss.

After that we took Curtis over to his line.  They had already begun morning ceremony.  He looked all grown up.  My favorite part was hearing him sing his school song.

We then walked home with just two children in tow.  I am beginning to feel like an older parent now.  In just 5 short years Gianluca will begin Kindergarten and John and I will most likely be walking home without any kids.  It is just crazy.

After one week of school our kids are still excited and happy when they come home.  Alessia seems more grumpy but I think she is exhausted.  Curtis seems to have boundless amounts of energy probably because he isn’t use to sitting all day.

I am enjoying the few short hours of just two littles at home.  Micah is easily entertained and the baby has done wonderful at keeping up with our schedule.

I am already lacking on my “I am going to be prepared the night before so I don’t freak out in the morning” schedule but we still are functioning without too much stress.  Curtis rides his bike to school, Alessia rides her scooter and the baby boys are in the stroller.  I drop them off and then head right home.   No need to stick around until the bell rings because my kids have forgotten I exist as soon as we walk on school grounds.

(I am one who does not like characters on my kids clothing or backpacks but I am learning to let go and just let them love what they love because soon enough they will too big for such things like Hello Kitty backpacks)
