Survived

Last week was a busy one.  John flew out of town on Friday at midnight and was gone all of last week. He was in NYC for the first half.  He then flew home, switched clothes and grabbed his car and drove to Palm Springs for another conference.

When he is gone I prefer that things are busy.  It makes the days go quicker.

Sunday seemed to be the longest day.  Church with 4 kids is not usually too fun when John is home so with him gone it was even more draining.  Luckily, people love babies so he was pawned off on people for the whole three hours.  Micah was on something though.  He was naughty for Sacrament meeting and then cried and cried in Nursery. I was in Primary and even when things aren’t busy there I always leave drained.  By the time I got home I was exhausted.  Of course we still had to have dinner and make it to 7:00 bed time.

The rest of the days he was gone didn’t seem so long.  Having the older two in school helps break things up.  Aunt Mary also flew in late Wednesday.  Her visit was a quick one but she helped a lot.

Friday, she helped we wrangle all four kids the kids Harvest Festival.  Saturday, the kids and I took her out to Boulder Beach to play in the lake.  John also returned Saturday. Mary watched all 4 kids for us so we could attend the temple sealing of our friends, The Bennett’s. She then flew home early Sunday morning.

It is super nice having a husband home again.  It is nice to be able to have adult interaction.  It is nice that the kids have their dad around to play with.

Today John and I were able to attend parent/teacher conferences at the kids’ school.  It was nice to meet with Curtis and Alessia’s teachers and to see how the kids are doing.  Overall they are both doing great.

Gianluca has been doing a great job sleeping at night.  Micah has been really clingy and grumpy if I try to leave him.  Although, it is only with certain people.  Really, it is just a select few people he is happy with when I leave him.

The weather has been perfect here.  Last week I babysat my friend’s kids and when she went to leave the kids all went outside and found our neighbor Sam to play with.  It was so nice out that all the kids ended up riding bikes and scooters.  Then we all ended up in Sam’s backyard playing and talking.  I love evenings like that.  Perfect weather, perfect company.
