Goodbye October

I was more than ready to bid farewell to October.  The last week always seems so long because you cram a months worth of activities in one week.

We kept quite busy with the Ward Trunk or treat, the Pumpkin Run up at school,  School Halloween parties and parades, a halloween party with church friends at the park and then Trick or Treating.

Curtis also completed his 25 miles at school.  He was able to participate in morning ceremony as well.  He led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and 30 seconds of silence.

We had Parent teacher conferences and then the following week I met with both kids teachers again.  Alessia’s kindergarten class had 38 kids in it.  The principal didn’t think it was too big of a class but after enough parents complained and one went to the superintendent the school was given another half day teacher.  We met with the Principal and her teacher to learn about all the changes.  The changes just took effect this week.  Now, Alessia’s class has 22 kids in it.  She was able to stay with her old teacher, Mrs. Gaskill.  We are very happy with the way things turned out.

I met with Curtis’s teacher because I wasn’t understanding all the writing assignments.  One of the assignments was for me to do.  I did what I thought I was suppose to but it was wrong and so Curtis had to miss recess for a week.  In the end, we realized I was never given the correct paper to fill out and so we couldn’t do the assignment.  His teacher explained everything really well and now I think I know how to do all the assignments.

I now feel much better about school.  For about a week I was feeling completely unsatisfied and annoyed.  Of course, never to the point of actually wanting to home school.  Sometimes I just get annoyed because I feel like my kids never have time to be kids because they have 7 hours of  school a day and then another hour of homework when they get home.
