Sea World

When John and I were in San Diego for our anniversary we went to Sea World.  The cost of one day admission is the same as the annual pass.  Since we had the annual pass we decided to take the kids to Sea World when we went back last month.

While the kids enjoyed it they didn’t enjoy the same things that John and I really enjoy.  It was nice that John and I had already been.  We had already seen all the shows and so we didn’t feel rushed with the kids.  We went at their pace and did the things they wanted to do.

This was the first trip that Curtis wanted to do bigger kid things.  There were times he didn’t want to do things the little kids were doing because he thought they were for babies. I decided I really am not ready for this stage of parenting.  Up until now the kids intrest level has all been at about the same stage.  However, in the end I think everyone had a good time.

Curtis and I were able to go on a roller coaster together.  Alessia wanted to go but she was just an inch too short.  The older I get the more sick I get on amuesment park rides.  But I sucked it up and went with Curtis anyways. And I daresay it was quite enjoyable. I didn’t get sick at all.  There is something so fun about the nervous anticipation for a ride.  After the ride was over I looked over at Curtis and he was still in a state of shock. I think this was his first big roller coaster ride.  He looked like the wind had been knocked out of him. I asked him if he wanted to go again.  He said that while he loved it and wasn’t scared he didn’t need to go again.

We spent a bit of the day in the Seasame Street Play Area.  This is where Curtis refused to go on any of the play structures.  He said it was for babies.  He wanted to play at the arcade.

Since the little kids had waited for us while we were on the roller coaster it was only far that he wait for them while they played.  Of course after 20 minutes the lure of the rope course over took him and off he went to play too.  He had a blast playing on the “baby” things.

We only saw three of the 5 shows.  We saw Shamu.  We brought Ponchos so we could sit in the wet zone.  Micah refused to put his on.  Finally after talking with him for a while he told me he didn’t want to put it on because he didn’t want to get in the tank with the killer whales.  Once I explained to him that we would not be getting in any tank with any whales he put one on.

We also saw the Pet show and the Seal Lion show.

We were able to go on a cable ride over the park too.  John took Curtis and Gianluca and I had Micah and Alessia. It was a fun ride.

The kids were able to earn money before they went so they could buy a souvenir.  Of course once they saw all the games they just wanted to spend their money on those things.  So we compromised and let them play the game where they could race someone in the family and that way at least someone in our family one.  Micah and Alessia both won a dolphin.  Curtis then spent his money at the gift shop on a killer whale.

We ended our stay at Sea World with a visit with Elmo.  Curtis didn’t care to see him but Alessia and Micah were so thrilled to get their picture taken with him.

Overall, it was a really fun day.  The weather was a little cooler so it was perfect that we spent it at Sea World.  2013-03-28 12.47.57 2013-03-28 12.54.06 2013-03-28 12.54.40 2013-03-28 13.13.29 2013-03-28 13.27.15-2 2013-03-28 15.14.58 2013-03-28 15.16.18 2013-03-28 15.30.06 2013-03-28 15.43.45 2013-03-28 15.47.47 2013-03-28 16.02.35 2013-03-28 16.54.00 2013-03-28 16.54.14 2013-03-28 16.57.46 2013-03-28 16.57.53 2013-03-28 16.59.57 2013-03-28 17.00.22 2013-03-28 17.00.23 2013-03-28 17.00.24 2013-03-28 17.00.52 2013-03-28 17.00.55-1
