Golfing

A few weeks ago I had some how managed to get all fours kids dressed and ready for school early.  Alessia went to play in the backyard and I sent Gianluca out with her. I stayed in the house and was folding the bottom-less pit of laundry.  All of a sudden I hear Alessia screaming. She runs into the house telling me the baby was hurt.  I thought she meant he fell down and was  crying and then I saw him.  He poor little forehead is gushing out blood.

I didn’t even  know what to do. I tell the kids to get their dad and I wrap the baby’s head trying to get the blood to stop.  A little while later the kids tell me that John is on the phone and can’t come down. I, of course deem this situation an emergency and tell them to tell Dad he is needed right away no matter how important his phone call is.

John comes out and we access the situation and decide we need to take the baby to the ER.   Because he is bleeding out his head we decide we both need to go because one has to hold a towel to his head.

Lucky for us we have really great neighbors and so I just dropped the older two off at their house and she took the kids to school and even stayed and took a picture of Curtis participating in morning ceremony since I was missing it.

The rest of load up and head to the ER.  John ended up dropping off the baby and I at the ER and he took Micah to McDonald’s for breakfast.  They later joined us in the ER.

By the time we were in route to the hospital the bleeding had slowed down and so we weren’t quite as ridiculous looking when we got to the ER.

The ER trip was pretty uneventful.  We waited for a doctor and he decided glue would close up the wound.  We had to wait 30 minutes to let the numbing cream numb the wound first and then the doctor glued it and sent us on our way.

Five days later we removed the bandages and he still had a huge hole in his head.  We are pretty sure the glue didn’t work.  It has been about two or three weeks now and the wound is almost completely healed.

When Alessia got home from school I asked her what had happened and she said she purposefully hit him.  I was shocked and I said, “you meant to hit him?” and she said, no. I meant to hit the ball.  I guess she misjudged how close Gianluca was to her and she nailed him when she swung the club.

Needless to say the clubs have since been removed from the backyard. Gianluca will have a fun little scar to show off for the rest of his life from his first time golfing with his sister.

I was however, really grateful that this day of all days my baby was completely dressed and even wearing socks and shoes so I didn’t look completely like a bad mom.
