Bryce

John had never been to Bryce Canyon and since we were so close we decided to take a quick day trip out there.  It was a longer drive then I thought it would be.  It probably was an hour and a half each way.

We left Alessia back at camp and brought our nephew, Keegan with us.

The view at Bryce is spectacular.  It was totally worth the three our drive to see such beauty.  We did one hike while we were there. Micah was a little slow but Curtis and Keegan did well.  The map said it was a fairly level hike. It totally was not.  It was a switch back up the canyon.  It wasn’t too difficult but you still felt like you were getting a good work out.

After hiking in Bryce we made a little detour to Panguitch.  We needed to eat some lunch.  We found this great drive through burger and shake joint called Henries.  The food was delicious.  John wanted to stop at the cemetery too and see the grave of John D. Lee.  He is related to him and is somewhat named after him.  The ladies at Henries were decedents of John D. Lee too.  They helped us find the right cemetery to go to.  Once there we had to walk around and find where he was buried. I didn’t think we would find him.  However, John did find him.  We took some pictures, told the kids a little bit about John D. Lee and the mountain meadow massacre.  Then we headed back to camp.

Of course we had to stop for a potty break.  And then a mile later a complete wipe down of Gianluca who popped out his diaper.
