The Narrows

I really wanted to hike the Narrows this year.  I had looked it up and it looked beautiful.  Finally the day came to do it.  We were all going to go together but due to some communication errors all of my sisters and their families left without us.  Later we found out they had tried to text us and they didn’t get the text we sent them back.  We decided to park near a bus stop instead of going all the way through the park and hopping on a bus from there.  We ended up actually beating my sisters to the hike.  It wasn’t until we turned around that we ran into them.

At the beginning of the hike the kids were grumpy.  This made me extremely grumpy. I had been wanting to do this hike for so long and it seemed like no one in my family cared.  After a little while I went ahead with the oldest two while John hiked at a slower pace with Micah and Gianluca.  After a half hour it seemed like everyone was back in a good mood again.  The hike was amazing.  The water was cold but refreshing.  The views were amazing.  After hiking in the river bed awhile I decided it was time for us to turn back and find John.  They ended up not being really far behind us.  We ended up continuing with the hike for a bit longer.  Then we turned back again and ran into my sisters.  So we started to continue hiking again.  We didn’t last too much longer though before we decided to turn back again and head back for good.  Micah and Reagan both wanted to be held as we were going down the paved path to the start of the trail.  I told them they should race.  That totally got them going.  They both took off.  I took off after them.  Then Reagan got tired so she held my hand as we walked while trying to catch Micah.  At one point I even carried her so we could walk faster so I could catch up to Micah.  We never did.  He ran all the way to the trail head by himself.

I am super glad we did the narrows. I would love to do them again.  Hopefully we will go back soon and go even further than we did this time.

We saw some big horn sheep when we entered the park.  We had to stop for a picture since it is the kids school mascot

I wish I had gotten a picture of John hiking while holding Micah in his arms so he wouldn’t get too wet.  I would offer to take Micah since he already had Gianluca but he wouldn’t let me take him.
