JAWS

I don’t even know how to start this post without feeling a little sad. Our fun and super loving P.E. Teacher, Mrs. Gronert retired.  I asked her how many signatures were needed on a petition to get her to stay.  She said she had prayed about it and this was the right time to do it.  I can’t argue with that.  She has been teaching for 41 years.  21 of those years were at Bartlett.  She ended her last year with a bang and was awarded A Heart of Education Award.  She truly deserved it. I have not very many teachers that are that devoted and loving as she is.  My kids have loved having her as a P.E. teacher and we have all loved participating in the JAWS program.

Even though Mrs. Gronert is now retired Ms. Johnson-Williams will make sure the JAWS program continues. I know she will do a great job continuing to love and help the kids at Bartlett.  So glad she isn’t leaving too.

This year was the first year Micah and Alessia both made it to 100 miles.  They did such a great job.  They were rewarded with a pizza party and a free t-shirt.

On the last day of JAWS we brought Ms. Gronert balloons and confetti.  It was wet and rainy and we didn’t know if we could dump the confetti but Ms. Johnson-Williams said to go for it.  So we did.  It was so fun to dump confetti on Mrs. Gronert’s head one last time.  We also had to get a little of it on Ms. Johnson-Williams.

We are all so happy that our school does the JAWS program. It has helped us to get outside and be more active together as a family.
